Jumah

Jumah is an exploration of contemporary tropical architecture, where considered design transforms a residential development into sustainable luxury.  A collection of three independent villas, each one a carefully orchestrated composition of indoor and outdoor spaces anchored by its own private pool and enveloped in lush, purposefully designed gardens.

Each residence provides a solution to the dual-purpose brief– a balancing act that addresses both the permanent comfort requirements of potential homeowners and the experiential desires of holiday guests. This programming challenge has resulted in spaces that feel at once intimate and welcoming, personal and universal.

The material palette is a response to place and craft, celebrating the rich building traditions of Bali. Local stone provides a tactile foundation, its varied textures creating a dialogue with precisely detailed timber elements and intricately woven rattan. This isn't just about aesthetics – it's about engaging with local craftsmanship and the specific climatic environment to create spaces that feel deeply rooted in their context while pushing the boundaries of contemporary design in Indonesia.

The architectural composition reveals itself through a series of breathtaking spatial moments, where double-height volumes create a connection to the tropical sky.  Spaces perform multiple roles: they establish a visual hierarchy of living and sleeping spaces, facilitate natural ventilation, and frame views of the surrounding landscape and gardens.

Water management is essential for new developments in Bali.  Rather than treating rainwater as a challenge to be diverted, the design embraces it as the precious resource it is, incorporating collection and filtration systems that transform this natural element into a sustainable asset for the property.

Jumah is an architecture that responds to its environment –it celebrates and enhances it, creating thoughtful tropical design that respects tradition, embraces innovation, and is sensitive to the precious landscape around it.
