Australia's new Whole of Home energy rating system, introduced in NCC 2022, revolutionizes how we evaluate residential energy performance. Moving beyond the traditional building shell assessment, this comprehensive approach examines all energy-consuming elements—from heating and cooling to lighting and pool equipment—on a 100-point scale. By connecting design decisions to broader environmental impacts, this rating system strives toward the ideal of net-zero energy homes with minimal utility costs.

Reaching for the Stars

In mid-2025 the Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme (NatHERS) will be expanded to include existing homes. Leading up to this we will be exploring ways to achieve, and exceed, 7-stars and a compliant whole-of-home rating for new homes and major extensions.
