The Limestone House is the renovation of a heritage residence originally constructed in 1855. Adapting the residence into a contemporary family home for a family of five we were conscious of the history and character that gave the residence a rich and endearing character. Working with the clients to understand how they occupy the spaces, the renovations add a complimentary layer to continue the story of the house without erasing the charm and memories of the previous lives whilst making space for new stories to be created. Through this process, the owner’s role as custodians of our built heritage was evident.
A limestone façade defines an generous courtyard that connects the living spaces, embraces the northern orientation and provides ventilation. A rooftop garden provides views onto open flowersand plants from the upstairs bedrooms and provides additional garden space.
